We’ve done it!

I’ve recorded my CD. It’s in the first-mix stage, and I’m so excited. Three Squash Blossom Boys, Dustin Orbesen, Peter Lisgnoli, and Ezra Bussman, played their lovely bluegrass instruments for it! Stay tuned for more info on the CD release party and how you can download a free song.

So now that I’m in the zone of finishing one thing and moving on to the next, Dustin and I have a new song to learn. At Rockygrass last week (has it been a week already? such fun times!) we were listening to Tim O’Brien’s Party of 7 singing this fantastic song that sounded ever so familiar… I couldn’t figure it out where we knew it from but Dustin finally did.

For the record, I want to learn every song the Muppets bluegrass band has done.

As a kid I didn’t really grasp that most of the Muppets’ songs are covers. But now I do, thankfully, which means that it’s possible for me to appreciate this song even more now. Here’s the guy who wrote it, Roger Miller, singing it with Andy Williams. I love this man, Roger. Love. Scatting is always amazing but this is a fucking blast!

So isn’t it funny, with all this Muppet stuff happening in my brain, that today is the day that I learn a few things: 1) Andrew Bird has recorded a new song that is 2) on a CD of Muppet songs, and 3) Andrew Bird is on it, and 4) you can listen to it here.

Also, there’s an Andrew Bird show in Arvada on Tuesday. I’m sure it’s pretty obvious I wanna go. Bad. Please, Lord, don’t let it sell out before I square away the day job schedule!

In other news, I was on local late night TV a couple weeks ago. But it’s okay if you missed it because it still exists on the internet! Find me at about twenty one and a half minutes, if you feel like flipping through.

Off to Marble to see Three String Bale. Maybe they’ll let me play tweeners. :) Let’s have some beers!
